The show The Biggest Loser has spawned workplace weight loss contests all over the country. While the principle of motivating people to lose weight is good, there is no guidance for the contestants. Like anything else, there is a right way and a wrong way to lose weight. Sadly, many of these people will regain the weight they lost and some will gain more. Poor nutrition and lack of exercise knowledge are the two main culprits. The third is the incorrect method of tracking progress. All of these contests are based on percentage of weight lost, not percentage of body fat lost. Because of the diets many employ to lose weight, they will lose as much muscle tissue as body fat, therefore slowing their metabolisms and making weight gain after dieting a sure thing and making future weight loss even more difficult. Helping people lose weight the correct and most effective way is the motivation behind my Workplace Weight Loss program.
As a certified personal trainer with over 23 years of experience, helping people lose weight and get into shape is what I do best. With the Workplace Weight Loss program I have the opportunity to help a greater number of people by educating and guiding them in the right direction. My program is a fantastic way for employers to get involved in a process that will not only benefit their employees, but reduce sick time and potentially reduce their cost of health care. My program is simple and powerful. Your company will sponsor the weight loss contest by paying for the employees who wish to participate. The "pot", or prize money can be either put up by the employees, the employer, or a combination thereof. The contest will be 8 weeks in length. I will have an initial consultation with each of the participants at the beginning of the program. In that consultation, I will measure body fat and body weight to establish a baseline. Each participant will also receive a 90 page manual on diet and exercise as a guide. I will also supply them with the Newbody's Diet, which they may choose to follow, or help them pick another healthy diet. I will also make exercise recommendations based on their specific needs. I will return every two weeks to do follow up body fat and weight measurements to mark progress and give participants advice as needed. I also offer unlimited email support for all of the contestants.
The cost to help your employees ranges from $60 - $75 per individual, depending on the number of participants. That's about the cost of a single personal training session for the entire 8 week program.
